Domaine Romain Pertuzot Beaune 1er Cru 'Clos des Mouches' 2024
The Beaune Premier Cru ‘Clos des Mouches’ is a celebrated vineyards, known for its exceptional terroir and the production of both red and white wines of outstanding quality. Situated in the southern part of the Beaune appellation, near the Pommard border, this 25-hectare vineyard boasts a rich history and is a benchmark for Beaune's Premier Cru offerings.
The name "Clos des Mouches" translates to "enclosure of the flies," which actually refers to honeybees ("mouches à miel or honey making flies) historically found in the area.
Tom's tasting notes:
Cherry coulis, rosehip florals complex, spice, there is a lot going on here and it opens beautifully with some air. It has that cool edge to the fruit, cassis and briary blueish fruit.
The tannins are silky smooth, a note in general to the 24 vintage, quite plush and lovely acid tension. Beaune always has lovely silkiness and a classy edge to the tannins and structure and this is no exception.
The 24’s slowly release their purity and precision as they sit in the glass.
